How long have you lived/worked in the area?

I have been living and working in this area for the past 47 years.

Life Story: Short version of where you’re originally from, where you grew up, other places/states/countries you’ve lived in, and what lead you to this career.

I grew up and went to school in this area. I have always been very active in my community and enjoy meeting new people. I am happily married and have a daughter that is attending the University Of Alabama, who is studying to be a physician assistant. I had a little boy Jude who suffered a massive stroke and we lost him in 2016. He was the inspiration for the book that was published, “The Diary Of A Baby And A Stroke”. I also have two children’s books under the “DragonFly Farms” series. My son was an inspiration to our family and the community and he inspired my daughter to create the non-profit corporation, Emily”s Smile Boxes. Our agency frequently sponsors her charity along with numerous other local non-profits.

What was your biggest challenge when starting this career?

It’s always difficult building your clientele through sales but I was blessed and my book has grown at  a large scale. By taking the time to educate my clients on insurance I have been able to grow my book by showing I care and I am genuinely interested in my clients well being. I don’t want anyone to ever feel like they are just a “sale” to the agency but rather a part of a family.

What is the hardest and the best part of your work?

My favorite part of my job is getting to know my clients and helping them find the right insurance coverage to properly cover their belongings. I write all lines of insurance and I deal with personal lines up to very large commercial accounts. The hardest part of my job would be hearing of tragic losses in people’s lives in regards to claims.

If you could advise yourself back when you were 20, what would you say?

INVEST, INVEST, INVEST! Buy property and put all you can in your 401k because life goes fast.

Who is your ideal customer/client?

My ideal client is anyone that needs insurance on auto, home, life, commercial, and more.

What’s your favorite thing in the area? To-do, restaurants, places?

My favorite thing is how close the community is in our area. It still has a good old town feel with warm greetings and delightful events.

What do you see/What would you like to see in the future for the area?

I would love to see a special needs playground in our area and I would also love to see a gaming center like Dave and Busters.

If we come across each other in the town, where would we be and what would you be doing?

I am normally at a networking meeting, having dinner at a local diner, or hanging at the Chop Shop listening to great music with friends.

What’s something about you that would surprise most people?

I am a pretty open book. Maybe that my grandfather played for the NFL and I come from a family with a heavy military background.
